VAT Identification Number

In the Czech Republic, the term VAT ID (or VAT Number) is known as DIČ (Daňové identifikační číslo). It is a unique identifier that the tax authorities assign to any business or individual registered for Value Added Tax (VAT). This number is essential for all transactions within the EU and must be included on all invoices and tax documents issued by a VAT payer.

The Czech VAT ID has a specific structure. It always begins with the country code CZ, followed by the company's 8-digit identification number (IČO) for legal entities, or the personal identification number (rodné číslo) for individuals. While the literal translation of DIČ is "Tax Identification Number," in all international business and invoicing contexts, VAT ID is the correct and universally understood term.
